The Most Asked Question from FGS Members

You may have heard Matt Menashes, NGS Executive Director, answer questions at the end of the NGS 2020 Live! last week. The most asked questions were about plans for membership after the merger.

Here's a recap:

Question:  I’m on the board of a county genealogical society. When FGS merges with NGS later this year, will our society automatically become a member of NGS or will we have to pay dues to both organizations?

Answer:  If your dues are in good standing, your society's membership will automatically convert over to NGS and will expire on your normal renewal date. If your organization happens to be a member of FGS and an organizational subscriber of NGS, your expiration date will be advanced from your NGS renewal date by the number of months remaining on your FGS membership.

Bottom line: We encourage you to continue to pay your membership fees with FGS as they come due and they will roll over to NGS after the merger.
